NAO – Humanoid Robot

NAO is an interactive fully programmable robot with diverse interactions which are possible through a multitude of sensors. On board are cameras, infrared, sonar,  microphones, speakers and LEDs. In other words, it can walk, talk, look and listen.  It heralds a major breakthrough in the use of ICT in schools and various special needs groups.  Versatile, fun, and permanently evolving.

Senses for interaction

 Moving: 25 degrees of freedom and a humanoid shape that enable him to move and adapt to the world around him. His inertial unit enables him to maintain his balance and to know whether he is standing up or lying down.
Feeling: The numerous sensors in his head, hands and feet, as well as his sonars, enable him to perceive his environment and get his bearings.
Hearing and speaking: With his 4 directional microphones and loudspeakers, NAO interacts with humans in a completely natural manner, by listening and speaking.
Seeing: NAO is equipped with two cameras that film his environment in high resolution, helping him to recognise shapes and objects.
Connecting: To access the Internet autonomously, NAO is able to use a range of different connection modes (WiFi, Ethernet).
Thinking:  We can’t really talk about “Artificial Intelligence” with NAO, but the robots are already able to reproduce human behaviour.
Designed to be personalised: add content, using a variety of capacities, enriching his personality and even developing new skills and know-how.

NAO in Education, bridging the communication gap with children with autism: Children with autism are unique, with their own personality, their own interests, their own world… Even if many of them are attracted by robots, they still need personalised education. JD is a fully functional humanoid robot kit, built with ez-bits. This humanoid design is fun and educational! JD can interact with human tools and environments for experimental purposes, such as the study of bipedal locomotion. This humanoid boasts 16 degrees of freedom with metal gear heavy duty servo motors! The camera in JD’s head can be used for vision tracking and recognition – colour, motion, glyphs, QR codes, and faces. Each eye has 9 RGB LEDs, which can be programmed for a variety of expressions. The included EZ-Builder Software makes it easy to create animations to customize movements.

A humanoid that walks right away – JD includes apps that allows him to walk, right away. The EZ-Builder Software includes an amazing GAIT feature called Auto Positioner. This allows you to create frames and actions to animate servo positions. The actions can be linked to any other control, such as Speech Recognition, Vision Tracking, Joysticks, Wii Controllers, and more.

Interactive and social – JD’s eyes have 18 LEDs (9 per eye), which can be configured for up to 1 million colour combinations. The head contains a camera which can track colours, faces, motion, glyphs, and more.


Six is your Hexapod – A hexapod is a robot that has six legs, giving it more stability and freedom to move than ordinary robots. It needs only three legs to balance while standing, and can walk with just four. Its other legs can reach for new foot positions, or manipulate objects!

ROLI is a customizable planetary rover style robot, much like a space exploration vehicle. ROLI was created to be a workhorse and move across different surfaces. With a 7.4v LiPo battery powering 2 motors, this robot has enough to turque to tackle tough terrain. The wheel and tread heights are adjustable, so you can modify its ground clearance. The included ezrobot ez-bv4 Camera adds impressive vision tracking capability.
